The History of Nikon Cameras
Nikon cameras, as a novice camera company, started struggling as one of the “late bloomers” in the camera world. They established their own company during the late 1940’s, where too many camera models were already launched in the market scene. Nikon cameras were sort of the “underdog” in the camera industry during those times. But as time went by and because of the most bright and innovative modifications that Nikon appealed in their camera models, they started to invade the top caliber spots. But before hitting the best notch, Nikon had to surpass all the failures.
In the end of the Second World War, Nikon launched its first camera called the Nikon I. This model had a lot of technicality problems that needed to be flourished. The camera did not boom at all and this was a great disappointment for Nikon. Starting from scratch, they have created the Nikon N model in the year 1949, one year after the launching of Nikon I. Nikon M has garnered praises and It was well accepted in the industry and in the market as well. Gathering much confidence from the Nikon M, the company started to zoom way beyond other brands except for Leica, a German camera brand during the 1950’s. The Leica was at that time, the most state- of-the-art range cameras. Nikon was then triggered to compete or even more go beyond what Leica had to offer. Nikon created the Nikon SP as a competitor to Leica. The Nikon SP proudly smashed the Leica in the year 1957, and was regarded as the most innovative and best camera during that year. Then the birth of the SLR made a bigger name for Nikon in the next years. The company still continues to introduce camera features and innovations and still regarded as one of the top camera manufacturers in the world today.
